Dieppe Ferry Port Information
Short Description of Dieppe: For the last thousand years Dieppe has married the sea and its streets and houses are filled with history. Whether you land at the boat docks in the heart of the old city or as a visiting pedestrian, you will penetrate the history as soon as you enter the city. Dieppe and the surrounding area have much to offer. Witness the glorious or difficult hours of Dieppe's history. The only monument - with churches of St Remy and St Jacques - to have survived the Anglo-Dutch bombardment in 1694, the Old Castle houses the memory of the maritime city and one of the most beautiful collections of ivories in Europe. Our maritime heritage will amaze you. You will discover the maritime activity of the fishing ports on this side of the Channel through : the evolution of shipbuilding and embarked technology - the fishing techniques aboard doris or trawlers, and the story of a fish from the ocean to the fishmonger - the originality of the geological identity of our cliffs - and our aquariums in which you will, at leisure, admire the different species living in the Channel and the North Sea.The docks, the old neighborhoods, churches, everything will delight you during your walks in the heart of the city. Since 1985, Dieppe is part of the National Network of Cities and Territories of Art and History. This label is awarded by the Ministry of Culture and Communication, to recognize local governments that engage in political facilitation and enhancement of their heritage,
