St Malo Ferry Port Information "Saint-MaloA city founded in the XIIth siècle Saint-Malo was named after the Welsh monk Mac Low, who, by the sixth century, became bishop of Alet. From the thirteenth century, the Malouins were taking on enemy ships. From 1395 to 1415, they gave temselves over to the King of France, Charles VI, who granted a franchise to the port. At the end of the fifteenth century, Anne of Brittany annexed the Duchy of Brittany to the Kingdom of France. The battles of 1944 devastated the harbor and destroyed 80% of the Intra Muros. The reconstruction has restored its legendary greatness, Saint-Malo, city of splendor and maritime history is well equipped as one of the most tourist locations in Brittany and the main harbour on its north coast. Boating, in the Cité Corsaire continues to play an important role. It cultivates its nautical image and this amply merits its quality label ""France Station Nautique"". So it is logical that Saint-Malo is the scene of many major events, such as the Route du Rhum and the Transat Québec / Saint-Malo, every four years."
