Valloire is located at the foot of the Galibier. It is one of the most important resorts of the Maurienne valley. The little village with its distinctive alpine charm (superb baroque church) nestles in the hollow of a valley just 17 km from the A43 motorway. The ambience is family-oriented and relaxing. The skiable slopes are connected with Valmeinier and destined for medium-level and beginning skiers. Not to be missed: the ice and snow sculpture contest in mid-January. Green ski slope for Learners. These are usually not marked trails, but tend to be large open, gently sloping areas at the base of the ski area.  19 slopes Blue ski slope are Easy. Similar to the North American Green Circle, and are almost always groomed, or on so shallow a slope as not to need it  17 slopes Red ski slopes are Intermediate. Steeper, or narrower than a blue slope, these are usually groomed, unless the narrowness of the trail prohibits it  24 slopes Black ski slopes are Difficult. Steep, may or may not be groomed, or may be groomed for mogul. It is worth noting that 'Black' can be a very wide classification, ranging from a slope marginally more difficult than a 'Red' to an icy mogulfield  6 slopes
