The Loire
French Wine
Delightful wines are
produced along the lovely banks of the Loire River. Those wines,
whether red, rosé or white, are fresh, light and delicately
fruity.
The best known are: the
dry, still, white wines of POUILLY-FUME and SANCERRE: the still
and crackling white wines of VOUVRAY which range from dry to
sweet ; the red wines of CHINON and BOURGUEIL; the white wines
(dry or sweet) of SAUMUR; the wines of ANJOU, white or rosé
(mostly sweet) and a few reds; the dry, white wines of MUSCADET
.

Western Loire Valley

Eastern Loire Valley
The wines of the Loire
are drunk when they are young. The whites and rosés are chilled.
The reds lose none of their charm by being cooled. The sweet
whites age very well and keep for a long time.
